Emergency Preparedness: Planning for the Unexpected. What are the worst possible emergency situations a child care facility could encounter? How prepared are you to deal with emergencies that could arise? The goals of this training are to get participants thinking about what they can do to reduce the risk of emergencies in their centers/homes and to begin the process of planning for how emergencies will be handled if they do occur. Those responsible for making decisions in the event of an emergency are encouraged to attend this training. |

Teaching Basic Health and Safety in the Early Childhood Classroom - Why teach health and safety during early childhood? Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death for children over the age of 1, 30% of children are hospitalized at least once during childhood. 27.8% of visits by children under 5 to the emergency room are injury related. This workshop will focus on using fun, hands-on activities in teaching basic health and safety to preschoolers. |
