Old Court House Starts to Look Like New

The original charm of the historic 1916 Court House is starting to reappear. Through skilled craftsmanship and attention to construction details, what once looked like a mere structural skeleton is now starting to elicit a fascinating glimpse of what it was like to visit the building 90 years ago.

Workers have been busy restoring both the exterior and interior of the building. As you may have noticed when walking by, all of the columns have been installed, and the portico roof structure is completed on the south and west elevations. The temporary roof was removed, and the final roof is being put in place this month. Elevator shafts have been installed and restoration of ceilings and windows is well under way.

The west side of the building will be the main entrance with a grand granite staircase.	New yellow bricks are being installed that will eventually match the existing old bricks.
A balcony overlooks the area that will become the courtroom.	Framework has begun on offices located on the third floor.
Tiling is being restored on the second floor. Old tiles are cleaned, and damaged or missing tiles are replaced.
