NOVEMBER 2009_PALM BEACH COUNTY TO ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FOR THE ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION COMPETITIVE GRANT PROGRAM FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS.
The Palm Beach County (PBC) Economic Development Office will accept applications for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Competitive Grant Program beginning Friday, December 4, 2009, and closing on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 5:00 P.M.
The EEC Competitive Grant Program will provide an opportunity on a competitive basis for the implementation of eligible projects by local governmental organizations that did not receive a formula-based award through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program under the U.S. Department of Energy. The purpose of this program is to assist eligible entities in reducing fossil fuel emissions, improving energy efficiency, increasing environmental sustainability and maximizing benefits to the public. The program will focus on retrofitting existing public facilities to improve energy efficiency, reduce energy consumption and create energy savings by completing efficiency improvements within the building and other sectors. Project activities are subject to the Davis-Bacon and Buy American Acts.
A workshop will be held on December 1, 2009, 9:00 am, at the PBC Cooperative Extension Services, Exhibit Hall A, 559 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach.
