The Design Section provides a variety of engineering design and support services for many County agencies. Staff contracts with, and reviews design documents from, private consulting firms, as well as performing in-house design of County projects. Our primary responsibilities include design of capital improvement projects on non-Thoroughfare roadways, general paving and drainage improvement projects, MSTU street improvement projects and pathway projects. In addition, we administer more than $30M in Annual Contracts with vendors providing construction services for Palm Beach County and maintain the Drainage GIS layer for the Palm Beach Countywide GIS. Our customers include the Land Development, Road and Bridge, Roadway Production and Traffic Divisions of Palm Beach County Engineering, the Cooperative Extension Service and the Departments of Airports, Environmental Resources Management and Parks and Recreation. We also provide engineering support for quasi-County agencies, like the Westgate CRA.
