General Information
Lake Ida lies just east of Interstate 95 and north of Lake Ida Road within the municipal boundary of the City of Delray Beach. Lake Ida is owned by Palm Beach County and the County's Lake Ida Park is located along the western shore. Water flow in the lake can occur either from a north-south or south-north direction and, ultimately, out to tide.

In 1991, a restoration project was initiated to remove non-native vegetation and plant native wetland plants to stabilize the shoreline and improve habitat within the lake. This initiative spanned 4 years and occurred in two phases outlined below.
- Phase One
Resulted in the creation of
0.7 acres of wetland area
- Phase Two
Resulted in restoring 2.7 acres of aquatic wetland habitat Cattails, giant reeds, Brazilian peppers, and Australian pine were removed and replaced with over 17,000 native plants and trees including bald cypress, pond apples, wax myrtles, and laurel oaks, and a mix of wetland herbaceous plants. The project area was protected by the installation of a 1050’ temporary wave fence that protected the plantings from boat waves and waves.
