Projects Requiring Engineering

If the project requires engineering, the following options are available:

Option 1: If the project will be competitively bid, we may choose to use one of our design consultants on annual contract.  Upon completion of the ddesign documents, we would solicit competitive bids or quotations, or use one of our term contracts.

Option 2: In lieu of a traditional competitive bid, we may choose to use our Job Order Contract (JOC) Program to accomplish both engineering and construction.  Currently, the JOC Program has seven (7) Contractors who are on an annual contract.  Each of the JOC Contractors have competitively bid against other contractors with the basis of the competition being unit prices to accomplish virtually any kind of routine building or site construction.  The unit prices include whatever engineering services may be required to design or permit the work.

Examples of projects that require engineering might include increasing the air-conditioning capacity of a room to accommodate an increased heat load; or the reconfiguration of partitions and doors to accommodate a new organizational structure.
