About Us
The Palm Beach County Bomb/Fire/Arson Unit is made up of a Captain who oversees the operation of the unit, five investigators, and a records and evidence custodian. The unit provides twenty-four hour investigative service to the citizens of Palm Beach County. The investigators work with the State Attorney's office in the prosecution of arson cases and are qualified to provide expert testimony in both criminal and civil cases.

The investigators of Palm Beach County are well versed in all aspects of fire investigations including scene examination, scene security, evidence collection and preservation, debris examination and removal, scene reconstruction and determination of ignition sources.

In addition, the investigators are law enforcement officers allowing them to conduct any criminal follow-up that may be required based on scene examination.

The Records Custodian is also a part of the unit. This section is responsible for maintaining reports for all of Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. In addition, this person is responsible, along with the Unit Captain, for securing and maintaining a custody history of all evidence that is collected by the investigators during an investigation.
