Community Forum Addresses State of the County and Drug Abuse Prevention

Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his monthly community forum on February 18 at the original Wellington Mall. Discussion topics included the state of the county as it pertains to District 6, and drug abuse prevention.

Among the invited speakers were Assistant County Administrator Brad Merriman, County Engineer George Webb and Planning Director Lorenzo Aghemo, who discussed the proposed county budget, road projects and the western communities overlay plan, respectively.

The program also included Todd Shoemaker, youth coordinator for the Palm Beach County Substance Abuse Coalition, and Capt. Jeff Lindskoog of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office who gave a presentation on the Narcotics Overdose Prevention and Education (NOPE) Task Force.

Approximately 75 western area residents attended the informative gathering.
