At the February 23, 2010, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

HUD grant – accepted a grant award of $50 million in federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Legislative Affairs – approved the county’s proposed FY-2011 federal legislative agenda including priority appropriations and legislative issues, and general appropriation and general issues to be monitored.

Inspector General – adopted a policy for implementation of an Inspector General fee for various types of procurements.

Property Review Committee – approved creation of a volunteer Palm Beach County Property Review Committee to review, evaluate and advise the board regarding real estate transactions, including the purchase, sale or exchange of property.

Bond counsel – approved an agreement with the firm Ruden McClosky to provide bond counsel services for financing related to site acquisition for the proposed convention center hotel.

Water Utilities – approved on preliminary reading and to advertise for public hearing on March 23 an ordinance amending the schedule of rates for reclaimed water produced at the East Central Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility that can be provided to potential customers on an uninterrupted basis.

Jupiter annexations – approved an interlocal agreement with the Town of Jupiter for the annexation of five enclaves generally located north of Indiantown Road, east of North Central Blvd., south of the Loxahatchee River and west of Center Street.

Panhandlers – agreed to place on a future agenda discussion of a policy that would ban using county-owned medians and rights of way to solicit donations.
