Commissioner Vana Attends Lake Worth Lagoon Boat Tour

Commissioner Shelley Vana joined county commissioners, elected officials, legislators and invited guests on a boat tour of the Lake Worth Lagoon on Feb. 24, 2010.  The tour provided an opportunity to see the results and successes of the Department of Environmental Resources Management’s (ERM) projects aimed at improving the water quality and natural habitats in the lagoon.

State lawmakers and local officials have demonstrated support by providing funding for the Lake Worth Lagoon Initiative that includes several projects in a 20-mile section of the Intracoastal Waterway in Palm Beach County.  A healthy estuary supports tourism, fisheries, marine industries, residential property values and other commercial activities.  Lagoon enhancements also provide benefits for the people who live, work and enjoy this natural environment.
