The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, through the Economic Development Office, has secured $198,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 108 Loan Program for AmeliaScapes, Inc. This landscape design and installation firm has expanded to include a retail and wholesale garden center on North Dixie Highway in Lake Worth.
AmeliaScapes, a women/minority-owned business, will create six full time jobs with an average annual salary of $25,307, within five years. The proceeds of the Section 108 loan will assist the expansion with working capital and machinery and equipment purchases.
Owner Marta Edwards has utilized her extensive academic and professional background in environmental engineering to create a garden center offering expertise in landscaping design and installation and specializing in drought-resistant plants.
“Helping local small businesses is vital to the economic recovery of our community, and we strongly support these business expansion opportunities through the HUD Section 108 Loan Program,” said District 3 Commissioner Shelley Vana.
