FY-2011 Budget Tops Forum Agenda

Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his monthly community forum on June 16 at the original Wellington Mall. The topic was the proposed FY-2011 county budget. The data presented was fresh from a day-long budget workshop by the Board of County Commissioners and staff.

Assistant County Administrator Brad Merriman and Financial Management and Budget Director Liz Bloeser provided an overview of the proposed $1 billion spending package and a series of possible measures the board could take to address a significant revenue shortfall.

Commissioner Santamaria urged residents to be involved in the budget process and to voice their views at upcoming workshops and public hearings. Commissioners are scheduled to discuss the budget again at a July 12 workshop in the commission chambers.
