Cancellation – BCC Meeting for 8/19/08 has been cancelled. The Board held an emergency meeting at 4 p.m.
Closings – County offices, libraries and parks will be closed Tuesday. All non-essential county personnel will not be required to report to work. Courts and court buildings will be closed and early voting will be suspended for Tuesday. We encourage people to stay off the roads.
Flooding - possibility – changes with weather

PBIA/Airports – operational as of 6 p.m., check with your airline.
Public transportation Palm Tran Service will cease the Belle Glade fixed route and paratransit service at 9 p.m. for Routes 40, 47 48 and the Clewiston Shuttle. Palm Tran and Palm Tran Connection will be closed Tuesday and will resume on Wednesday.
Schools - PBC schools will be closed on Tuesday.
Shelters – There is only one shelter open, Lake Shore Middle School, 425 W Canal St. No., Belle Glade
Solid Waste Authority - SWA facilities will be closed on Tuesday – No Collection in Unincorporated area.
Supervisor of Elections: All poll worker training classes scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 have been cancelled. The training classes have been rescheduled for the same time on Monday, August 25.
Other – Tornado watch is in effect; to be on the safe side, please take in your patio furniture. Bridge lockdowns have not been directed at this time.

Weather – Tropical storm gusts expected midnight for eastern Palm Beach County. Sustained tropical storm winds around sunrise for eastern Palm Beach County. Peak winds county wide from early morning to mid-afternoon Tuesday. Peak gusts western area at 50 to 52 mph.
