At the October 6, 2009, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Boat Ramps – approved a $10-per-day option for boat trailer parking at the county’s five saltwater boat ramps. The new permit fees -- $35 for an annual permit or $10 for the daily pass -- take effect January 1, 2010.

Palm Tran – agreed to extend Palm Tran Connection service to certain Transportation Disadvantaged-eligible riders through January 31, 2010. Funding for non-medical and non-job-related TD trips had been cut from the FY-2010 budget that took effect October 1.

Fire Rescue – adopted a resolution authorizing the use of $31,129 from the Pollution Recovery Trust Fund to enable Palm Beach County Fire Rescue to purchase a low-level mercury vapor analyzer. The device is used by hazardous materials teams to determine the extent of contamination from mercury spills.

Health Department – received an H1N1 virus update by Dr. Alina Alonso, director of the Palm Beach County Health Department.

West County Energy Center – approved a series of utility easement and right of way agreements to supply reclaimed water to Florida Power & Light’s West County Energy Center.

Glades Water – approved Clean Water State Revolving Fund Construction Loan agreements for federal stimulus funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to pay for water utility system improvement projects in Pahokee and South Bay.

Inland Port - agreed to send a letter to Port of Palm Beach officials formally supporting Florida Crystals’ application as the site for the proposed intermodal logistical center (inland port). The Florida Crystals property in western Palm Beach County is one of four sites being considered.
