Thank you for participating in the Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization hosted the Countywide Community Revitalization Team (CCRT) Community Connections Meeting.
Barbara Terembes, Director of the Choice and Career Options Department, provided an overview of the Choice Programs, which are designed to give elementary, middle and high schools students a unique opportunity for indepth experiences and study in specific areas of interest. Each Choice Program emphasizes a specific theme. Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in “choosing” the program most appropriate for the interests, needs, and abilities of their child. Themes like Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Performing Arts, Medical Sciences, and more help students get a taste of – and a head start in - the areas that interest students most. Admission is determined by a lottery that is based on the number of applications received and the number of openings for a school program. Choice programs are open to all Palm Beach County students. OCR's Mini Workshops are designed to engage, inform and educate citizens, and features varied topics of interest to neighborhood organizations and residents alike. They are a great opportunity for neighborhood leaders to interact and learn from one another. |
Out last CCRT Community Connections Meeting was a resounding success. Over 100 community residents, including youth, participated. Commissioner Paula Burdick shared her views on the importance of community participation in revitalization efforts and answered questions from meeting participants. Click here for more information.
