Palm Beach County Commissioners Show Support for Local Military Reservists Called to Active Duty
Families of Palm Beach County active military personnel are getting a helping hand from Palm Beach County government. The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted a grant program that will provide financial assistance to all Palm Beach County reservists and National Guard members called to active duty in support of a named conflict or national emergency declared by the President of the United States. Palm Beach County residents who are called to active duty can apply for a grant of $600 per year. The grant will be prorated for periods of service of less than a year. The grant funds may be used by reservists and National Guard members called to active duty to partially offset any financial hardships they face as a result of being called away from their civilian jobs and families. However, no restrictions are placed on the use of the funds and the only requirements are that the period of active duty must be at least 60 days and the applicant must be a permanent Palm Beach County resident. If you or someone you know is eligible for the grant please call the County Veteran’s Affairs Office at 355-4761 or click here to print an application. |
