The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners is considering an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan to establish an overlay to guide future development in the Central-Western Communities, an unincorporated area of approximately 43,000 acres, generally located west of Royal Palm Beach between Northlake and Southern boulevards.

The overlay would replace the sector plan which was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners in 2005, but which was found not to be in compliance with state requirements, and was subsequently repealed by the BCC.
